The Chicago Blackhawks have placed left wing Ben Eager on injured reserve. Eager has been held scoreless in two games with the Blackhawks this season. He posted career highs in 11 goals, 15 points and 74 games played last season while ranking 13th in the NHL with 161 penalty minutes. He has got 501 penalty minutes and 36 points in 197 regular-season games with the Philadelphia Flyers and the Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks open the North American portion of their regular-season schedule when they face off against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Thursday before hosting the Colorado Avalanche in their United Center home opener on October 10.
