Red Wings' Filppula has broken his wrist

The Detroit Red Wings, which is already without forward Johan Franzen due to a knee surgery, lost another key player on Thursday night. Center Valtteri Filppula broke his wrist in the second period against the Edmonton Oilers. Team Coach MikeBabcock said Filppula will miss eight weeks or so.

Filppula had 2 goals and 4 assists in 11 games this season. He posted a career high in 40 points and 28 assists last season while adding 12 goals. He was also a key contributor in the playoffs too, scoring 3 goals and 13 assists in 23 games. Hope he will come back to the ice in his red wings jersey soon.
